Screen Printing Industry Statistics 2026: 55 Verified Data Points on Market Size, Costs, Wages & Trends
Screen printing is one of the oldest printing technologies in commercial use — and one of the most misunderstood in the data. Depending on where you look, it's a $0.8 billion industry, an $8 billion industry, or a $12.8 billion industry. All of those numbers are "true." They just measure different things (we explain exactly why in Section 7). This page collects the most current, source-verified statistics on the screen printing industry.

The volume curve: print-only price per shirt, 1-color front
- Real 100–249 piece orders have a median all-in price of about $12 per shirt, garment included. Small 24–49 piece orders come in around $24 per shirt.French Press Custom order data since 2025

07Why These Numbers Contradict Each Other
Search "screen printing market size" and you'll find $0.81 billion, $8.16 billion, and $12.8 billion — all from legitimate research firms, all current. Nobody is lying. They're measuring different things:
| Figure | What it actually measures | Source |
|---|---|---|
| $0.81B (2025) | Global ink sales — narrowest scope | ReAnIn |
| $1.59B (2025) | Global ink sales — a second firm's scope of the "same" market | The Insight Partners |
| $4.68B (2024) | Global ink sales — a third scope, a third number | Market Research Future |
| $6.84B (2025) | Global custom t-shirt printing (all methods, not just screen) | Mordor Intelligence |
| $7.3B (2026) | Global plastisols — the raw chemistry, of which screen inks are one use | Coherent Market Insights |
| $8.16B (2025) | Global services — what print shops charge customers | Mordor Intelligence |
| $9.86B (2025) | Global machines & equipment sales | Mordor Intelligence |
| $12.8B (2026) | US custom screen printing services only (IBISWorld's OD4211 scope) | IBISWorld |
| $8.43B (2017) | US NAICS 323113 revenue in the 2017 Economic Census — narrower, older, government scope | US Census Bureau |
Three rules for reading any screen printing statistic:
- 1. Check the noun. "Screen printing" can mean the service, the machines, the inks, or the printed products. These are separate markets — and even within inks, three research firms publish numbers 6× apart.
- 2. Check the geography. US-only figures and global figures get mixed constantly.
- 3. Check the year. A "2017 Economic Census" figure and a "2026 estimate" describe the same industry at different times with different methods.
When this page quotes a number, the scope is always in the sentence. That's the standard we'd ask of anyone citing us, too.
